I wanted to start this 'Welcome to Wikaniko Scotland' blog so people could get an idea of what Wikaniko is all about. Wikaniko (We Can Eco) is a co-operative marketing company selling eco-friendly products. What a mouthful!! Basically they provide very reasonably priced products that actually do what they're meant to without making you choke on the fumes and still look after the environment.
I was told you just change your shopping and get a lot of it from Wikaniko instead of the supermarket. Well! If you remember not to stick your face cream, cleaning products etc on your Tesco list that is! I've decided I need 2 shopping lists. One for food - ie the supermarket - and the other for Wikaniko. That way I don't forget and end up buying stuff I don't need.
If you're looking to start off and don't know where to begin, I'd say the plastic bags are a must. They're no more expensive than your supermarket anyway. There are loads of cleaning products but I know it's difficult when you've never heard of them - do you want to spend money on something that might not work? Well, actually, they do work pretty well. If you're not sure if something's worth getting just give me a shout and I'll tell you straight whether it's worth getting or not. If I don't like a product or it doesn't work, I'm the first to shout to HQ and say so.
Did I mention Wikaniko's a co-operative? Yes? It does mean that we all have a say in quite a few of the decisions that go on which does make you feel a real part of the company. They always do listen if you email them and have suggestions which is nice - and pretty unusual from what I hear of other companies. Some of them don't know what their new products are going to be till they get their new catalogue! Hopeless! We are told in our newsletters what the new products are and get all the information on them, get them in and try them out before the customers start asking questions. A much better idea I think.
Remember the co-op stamps? Well Wikaniko gives out their own stamps. You can collect them for various things - using refills, suggestions, just being lucky (they actually give away some every month to a lucky few). You save them up and then cash in the book once it's filled if you like. Or of course you can use it to help buy a tree to plant in Africa. That's another thing they are trying to do. Plant 10000 trees in Africa.
You really need to go on the website to see it all. You can spend days sifting through all the different things on there if you want. There are videos, information downloads, games for the kids, e-cards (free of course), an auction site like Ebay but there are no fees - WiCycle It - and much more.
Wikaniko is more unusual than any other network marketing company I have ever come across. They are allowing anyone to join as a Wholesale Buyer for FREE! That means you just fill in a form (no card details or anything) and join the company for nothing for a year. You get access to a webpage where you can order all your products at the wholesale price - a saving of about 33%! If you're trying to raise funds it's a brilliant way to do it as their luxury and pampering ranges are lovely. If you love it and want to continue for another year it only costs £12!
If you are a bit of an entrepreneur and fancy starting your own business with your own brand products, then Wikaniko have made this so easy for you. You pay an initial fee of £59 which covers all your labels - FOR EVER - and then just order what you want from the Own Brand section. Design your own labels and providing they are done in a standard font (ie windows ones) then there's no extra charge. You'd think you'd have to order 100s of each product, but you don't. To make it easy for the smaller business, Wikaniko allow you to buy just 6 of most products (some are 12) so you don't have heaps of money sitting in stock. A mini-franchise just waiting to be set up for a very small startup cost. Profit to be made is more than 33% when buying in bulk so you can quickly recover your initial investment.
Oh dear! I have rabbited on, haven't I? Does the enthusiasm show? I hope so. I really like this company and I think you will too. I smile every time I go on the site. There's always something new and interesting going on. So Welcome to Wikaniko Scotland!
Have a look and see for yourself.
Till the next time...........
